Open Churches Day
On Monday, May 25 – Whit Monday – there will be an informal Open Churches Day in Amsterdam. Twelve churches in the city centre are participating, opening their buildings to the public the whole day or, in some cases, just for a few hours.
If you would like to visit these churches, you can use a detailed eleven-kilometer walking route, accessible via the download link below. Despite being published on this website, the route description is available in Dutch only.
If you wish to walk the route on Whit Monday, please come to the English Reformed Church in the Begijnhof at around 10:00 AM. There you will receive a small pilgrim's booklet containing stamps from the English Reformed Church and the Begijnhof Chapel. At the ‘Stempelposten’, the stamping points along the route, you can – as a modern pilgrim – collect more stamps.
This walking tour is free of charge. A limited number of printed route descriptions will be available at the English Reformed Church, but to help keep costs low, we encourage you to download the route description at home and print it or save it on your phone.
We wish you a pleasant walk, nice weather and enjoyable encounters with fellow believers in other churches.
