Open Churches Day
On Monday, May 25 – Whit Monday – there will be an informal Open Churches Day in Amsterdam. Twelve churches in the city centre are participating, opening their buildings to the public the whole day or, in some cases, just for a few hours.
If you would like to visit these churches, you can use an eleven-kilometer walking route, which is described in detail in the attached document. Despite being published on this website, the route description is only available in the Dutch language.
If you wish to walk the route on Whit Monday, please come to the English Reformed Church in the Begijnhof around 10:00 AM. There you will receive a small pilgrim's booklet containing stamps from the English Reformed Church and the Begijnhof Chapel. At the ‘Stempelposten’, the stamping points along the route, you can – as a modern pilgrim – collect more stamps.
This walking tour is a free of charge. However, due to a lack of budget, route descriptions cannot be distributed in large numbers at the English Reformed Church. If you wish to walk the route, please download the itinerary from your computer at home, print them out, staple the pages together, and take it with you along the way.
We wish you a pleasant walk, nice weather and enjoyable encounters with fellow believers in other churches.
