Concert - Anastasia Fioravanti, piano

Born into a family of musicians, Anastasia Fioravanti (2001) began studying piano at the age of three, and enrolled at the Fermo Conservatory when she was seven years old where she studied under the guidance of Daniela Cantarini. Shortly after enrolling she entered the international competition scene, and following her results has been holding concerts in Italy and internationally ever since, both in recital form and in collaboration with orchestras, chamber musicians and vocalists. She currently studies at the "Incontri col Maestro" Piano Academy in Imola, under the guidance of Igor Roma and Andrè Gallo.

PROGRAM:
- Dmitri Shostakovic; 24 Preludes, Op. 34
- Francis Poulenc; 8 Nocturnes, FP 56
- Gabriel Fauré; 3 Nocturnes, Op. 33

Fioravanti presents music illustrating that the nocturnal can take on a broad spectrum of forms: memory, solitude, longing and on occasion, a playful escape.
Poulenc's 8 Nocturnes present unconventional depictions of the night, being not dreamy serenades but fleeting vignettes, each with its own mood: at times ironic, at times tender, always unpredictable. His harmonies and his melodies, sometimes fragmented or suspended in time, seem to ask: is night a refuge or a deception?
Fauré's Nocturnes, by contrast, might be more alike to confessions. Restlessness makes place for inconfinability; a space where harmonies expand, dissolve but do not seek resolution.
Shostakovich's Preludes are miniatures providing rapidly changing moods; this night ends in flashes that never fully give themselves away.
