Annual ‘Kerkenpad’ Day Outing by H4H

Visit to Three Cathedrals in Haarlem

The Heilige Vierhoek (H4H) is an ecumenical partnership between the English Reformed Church, the Old Lutheran Church, the Roman Catholic Krijtberg, and the Mennonite Singelkerk – four churches located around the Spui.

Each year, H4H organises various activities, including the annual day trip known as Het Kerkenpad.

This year, the Krijtberg is responsible for organising the event.

On Thursday 11 September, we will take part in an inspiring walk through Haarlem, visiting three cathedrals. The distances between the churches are short enough to walk comfortably. For those with limited mobility, transport will be provided between the Grote Markt and the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Bavo.Participants are asked to make their own way to Haarlem Central Station. The first church is nearby.

We will gather at St Joseph’s Church, Jansstraat 43, where we will be welcomed by Honorary Canon Guus Hendriks. From there, we will walk to the Grote or St Bavo’s Church on the Grote Markt for a guided tour. Afterwards, we will continue on foot to the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Bavo on the Leidsevaart, where lunch will be provided. This will be followed by a guided tour, including the crypt and treasury, and a brief greeting from the Bishop of Haarlem-Amsterdam, Mgr. Jan Hendriks. A short prayer service will conclude the visit, after which we will enjoy a drink together. You are free to make your own way home afterwards.
