"Humanity created 'in God's image'..."

It is commonplace to cite the Biblical paradigm which speaks about humans being created in God's image - but what can we understand by this? And thinking further: Do we realize how scandalous that paradigm is? How dare we? Humans and God so close to each other? 

Still, Biblical imagery works with the "imago dei" (God's image) concept, when trying to make us understand and explore what it is to be human and humane and how that relates to our faith relationship. We are human not "by nature", but by creation, to start with. Relation is essential to humanness, and "bodies matter", and even breathing and tender or passionate kissing are part of that special perspective on humankind! And then there is that body on the cross, with its even scandalous message: God's image in pain and suffering, in life-sharing! 

In our Sunday listening and meditating we will try to explore what marks the humanness of humans, and what that may mean for our day to day life - and perhaps more specific: in our assessment of artificial intelligence and transhumanism... Come and join us!
